Lynn Martin Graton Named Acting Director
Lynn Martin Graton of Northfield, who has served as Traditional Arts Coordinator for the New Hampshire State Council on the Arts since 1998, has been named Acting Director of the agency. Her experience at the Arts Council includes overseeing the state’s participation in the 1999 Smithsonian Folklife Festival and its in-state re-creation, administering the grants and information data base, launching the New Hampshire Folklife web site, and taking the helm of the Collections Management team, in addition to administering New Hampshire’s Traditional Arts programming.  

A skilled artist and craftsperson, Lynn holds a bachelor’s degree in ceramics and sculpture from the University of Guam and a master’s degree in Pacific Island Studies from the University of Hawaii. She has 25 years of experience in arts administration. Before coming to New Hampshire she served for 15 years as Folk Arts Coordinator for the Hawaii State Foundation on Culture and the Arts. Lynn and her husband, Arnold M. Graton, Jr., a historic restoration timber framer, live in a timber framed home in Northfield they designed and built themselves, completing it in 2008. They direct most of their free time to sustainable farming. Her son, Daithi Martin, is a student at the University of Montana in Missoula, majoring in forestry and agriculture.

Concord Chamber Hosting Networking Event for Artists
The Concord Chamber is inviting artist to an Artist-to-Artist Networking Event, “Across the Disciplines.” Capital-area creative professions are welcome to come and meet their peers for an informal networking opportunity. The event happens Tuesday, October 27, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Kimball House at the Capitol Center for the Arts, 44 South Main St., Concord. 2010 Artist Fellow Denise Dumas
Make a Wish, a video, sculpture and sound installation by 2010 Artist Fellow Denise Dumas of Wilton, will be on display October 20 through November 14 at 119 Gallery in Lowell, Mass. A three-channel video projection, Make A Wish combines images of thunderstorms and water with an accompanying soundtrack of voiced concerns to envelop the gallery in an electrical storm of uncertainty.  Watery surfaces spill with a myriad of visions that form a layered collage of contemporary troubles. Mixing real and virtual imagery, Dumas creates multiple points of view that redefine domestic, political, ecological, social, and economic ideas. Perform It! Young People’s Stage Company
Perform It! Young People's Stage Company in Wolfeboro has won the 2009 Moss Hart Award for Best Theater Production in New England. The award is given to best production in all theater divisions including professional theaters. Perform It! Stage Company will receive the award for its spring production of William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night's Dream. The company’s whose 45 Shakespeareans are all under the age of 18.

The entire cast  plans to make the journey to Sturbridge, Mass., to receive the award in November at the New England Theater Conference. The Hollis Art Society
The Hollis Art Society’s new Art Gallery celebrated its grand opening this week. The gallery is located at the Greater Nashua Mental Health Center at Community Council, 100 West Pearl Street, Nashua. The gallery is displaying works by members of the Hollis Art Society and by clients of the Community Council.
